Via Gill Lanham of the Rosebank NHW:
Good news! The newly renovated Rosebank Theatre will be opening soon with its first show, Live with Ivy, from the 20th November to 21st December, Wednesdays to Saturdays at 8.00 p.m.
Live with Ivy is a journey of gentle nostalgia into a world of innocence and morality. With two multi award winning actors, Nicholas Ellenbogen and Claire Berlein, this joyous story of the 50’s begins in Nyasaland, then leaps to the 80’s and the West End of London. The Garrick family have been in the theatre for 200 years, but things are changing and young Ivy must make a choice between law and the stage. The star actress Claire Berlein plays Ivy as the 11 year old, and 30 years later she picks up the older Ivy. Nicholas Ellenbogen plays her Uncle Rex, who is drawn back onto the London stage by his wily niece.
Comedy with all the magic of a live night out, Live With Ivy will give you a peep at the new Rosebank Theatre before Alexander McCall Smith officially opens it, with his wife Elizabeth, in 2014. The foyer, known as the Green Room is on stream and will sell coffee, tea, cool drinks and nibbles. The theatre itself has been turned around so toilets are more accessible.
Tickets are R100 and bookings are online through Webtickets. Their contact number is 021 4811822. The theatre contact number is Liz 072 3166133.
