Prepaid electricity systems down this weekend – top up now!

City of Cape Town press release:

Pre-paid electricity consumers warned of vending system maintenance on 19/20 October

Essential planned maintenance on the City of Cape Town electricity vending system will result in a temporary system shutdown between 21:00 on 19 October 2013 and 05:00 on 20 October 2013. This shutdown will disable all vending systems and will therefore also affect online purchases of electricity.

This will mean that all consumers who fall within the City of Cape Town’s supply areas will not be able to purchase pre-paid electricity units during these hours. Consumers directly supplied by Eskom will not be affected.

Consumers are encouraged to purchase all necessary electricity units beforehand to avoid being inconvenienced.

Should residents wish to be updated on the progress of repairs, they are welcome to contact the Electricity Technical Operations Centre on 0860 103 089, or send an sms to 31220.

The City wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused. It is, however, imperative that we maintain our vending system to ensure that it can continue to be a valuable service to our consumers.
