Mowbray Community Police Forum AGM tonight

The annual general meeting of the Mowbray Community Police Forum is happening at St George’s Grammar School at 7pm tonight.

One of South Africa’s leading experts on crime, Professor John Cartwright, will be giving an address.

Professor Cartwright is an internationally-renowned expert on crime and is co-author of the ground-breaking book  Where’s The Chicken? Making South Africa Safe (his co-author is Clifford Shearing, also a Cape Town-based academic and an expert in civic affairs). He holds positions at universities all around the world, including the Universities of Stellenbosch, the Western Cape, Toronto, Montreal, Oxford, Griffith and the Australian National University.
He is currently working with the Western Cape Department of Community Safety on revising programmes for training Neighbourhood Watches and for accommodating City Improvement Districts.
Professor Cartwright’s views are, therefore, extremely relevant to the work of Community Police Forums and Neighbourhood Watches.

Details of the AGM are as follows:

Date: Monday November 19, 2012
Time: 7pm
Venue: Mallett Hall at St George’s Grammar School off Richmond Road, Little Mowbray.
