Liesbeek River events to note

  1. International Coastal Clean-up: Did you know that the litter on the beaches of Robben Island comes from the Liesbeek River? Join the Friends of the Liesbeek from 9am on Saturday 15th September for a cleanup at Lagoon Beach, Milnerton (follow Marine Drive towards Milnerton and turn towards the sea at the Otto du Plessis /Boundary Road intersection. Follow the road around and turn first right). Please contact Trevor Hughes (secretary@fol.org.za) to let him know if you are attending.

Liesbeek River Walks/Workshops

  1. Thursday 13th September, 15h00 to 18h00: Focusing on the stretch of the Liesbeek that runs downstream from Albion Spring to Belmont Bridge, including the Rondebosch Pick and Pay Shopping area. Meet in front of the Rondebosch Library. The workshop will start with a 1 hour walk along the river, and continue with a structured discussion session and a display at the library.
  2. Thursday 20th September, 15h00 to 18h00: Focusing on the stretch of the Liesbeek that runs downstream from Belmont Bridge to Rosebank. Meet in front of Starke Ayres Nursery. The workshop will start with a 1 hour walk along the river, and continue with a structured discussion session at Starke Ayres Nursery.

And finally:  The Friends of the Black and Vygekraal Rivers invite you to attend their first AGM to be held at Rondebosch Golf course on Tuesday 25 September 2012 at 19:00 (7pm). Dr. Kevin Winter will talk on the Peninsula Paddle and Louise Stafford on the Kader Asmal River Project.

  1. I’m wondering if you folks know who the group is that does fitness type walks by the liesbeek in Mowbray. There’s someone looking for a group like that in the area that I’d like to put in contact with them. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Alan
