Things to do this week if you want to help our rivers

A quick reminder that the first meeting of the new Friends of the Black River is tonight at the Rondebosch Golf Club House, starting at 7pm.

And the Friends of the Liesbeek report that there are two clean-ups happening for International Coastal Cleanup Day this Saturday September 17th:

  1. At the mouth of the Salt River on Lagoon Beach, from 9am onwards organised by the Plastics Federation.
  2. On the banks of the Liesbeek in Observatory, also from 9am.

The  kickoff for SA vs Fiji is at 8am so you have time to watch the game and then amble down to the cleanup before 10am!

Finally, UCT honours student Kate Bradshaw is asking for volunteers to walk down a short section of the Liesbeek with her to do a water quality survey and answer a few questions about their experience.  The two proposed dates are Friday 16th at 17:15 or Sunday 17 at 11:00.  Read this letter for all the details and respond directly to Kate if you are interested.
