St George’s Grammar School appeal to dog walkers

If you walk your dogs on the field at St George’s or know someone who does, please take note of this appeal from the headmaster Julian Cameron:

We wish to appeal to residents who walk their dogs on our school fields. Please be aware of the following:

  1. The school is not public property. It is private property. Please remember this when walking your dogs. Respect the rights of the school and the children in this regard. It is a privilege to walk your dogs on our grounds.
  2. Please only walk your dogs after 6pm and before 7am. The school is still using its facilities until then.
  3. Please pick up your dog’s faeces after them. There are many bins around the school for you to dispose of their waste. Children do play on our school fields and this poses a potential health risk.
  4. Please advise any of your neighbours who walk their dogs on our fields of this policy. We do this in the best interest of our children.

It’s a shame this appeal had to be made at all – the antisocial few give all dog owners a bad name.

  1. Yes, it’s embarrassing that the headmaster of the school has to appeal to dog walkers. Why don’t we understand and acknowledge the privilege we have of walking our dogs in the grounds. Thank you St Georges for allowing us to use your grounds.
