This rather alarming report from a neighbour reminds us all to beware of what we put out for rubbish collection:
One Friday morning when the refuse collection truck was late, I saw a man opening my neighbour’s dustbin, scratch through it and remove what
looked like discarded correspondence. He read through each item and then tore a piece off the top left corner of one of the items (I presume the householders name and address would be printed there). He put this in his pocket and returned everything else to the bin. So be careful of what you throw away if you are not able to shred correspondence.
If I have to throw e.g. old insurance policies away, I put them in a bucket of water and when saturated, squash the paper together into a pulp.
Old paper also makes excellent worm food, for those who keep worm bins!
